About Us
The Poplin Elementary School PTA was formed in August 2009 and incorporated September 2009. We are a non-profit tax exempt corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Poplin PTA works together with Poplin Elementary School for the enhancement of the educational environment for our students, the fostering of parent involvement, and the building of community spirit. The Poplin PTA provides goods and services not otherwise possible within the school's normal resources such as: educational assemblies, educational equipment, books and software, family fun events, etc. Meetings
The PTA board will meet the first Monday of each month, 6:30 pm in the Poplin Elem. Media Center. An up-to-date calendar will be available on the Poplin website with all of the active meeting dates. During each meeting the school principal is typically in attendance.
Meeting topics include budget establishment/review, calendar items as well as updates on various committee activities, events, fund raising and student/teacher/school needs. All meetings do follow parliamentary procedure with meeting minutes taken and published shortly after the meeting concludes. Click here to view past meeting minutes. Suggestion/Topic Submission
Suggestions or topics that you would like reviewed by the board may be submitted to any of the board members. It is best to submitted your concerns via email for proper documentation, but you may also call or meet in-person with any of the board members.

Nominating ballots for board member positions are sent home in early March with your child. Parents may nominate themselves or another member for any position on the PTA board.
A committee made up of non-board member parents will interview each of the nominees and make a recommendation to the current board. The new board for the following school year will be voted on at the May meeting. Typically this meeting coincides with the Poplin Music performance which is usually the first Tuesday night in May.
