Volunteer Information

We would like to THANK all of the volunteers who were able to help last school year.  We look forward to seeing you around the halls of Poplin Elementary during the 2011-2012 school year.  We are excited and working hard planning PTA events for this school year. 

All UCPS volunteers must be approved by the county.  This process is now ON LINE.  To begin the approval process simply go to https://volunteers.ucps.k12.nc.us and under the VMS Home Screen click "Apply online to Volunteer with UCPS".  Once you are approved, your "approval" will stay with you throughout all school years in Union County as long as you log volunteer time in the office twice per year (once in the Fall and once in the Spring).

A Poplin Volunteer INTEREST form will be sent home with the children in  August of each year.  If you would like to go ahead and fill one out just click here.  This form helps us see the areas, programs & events YOU are interested in.

This work is very rewarding ...

It’s seeing the bright light of learning sparkle in a child’s eye. It’s seeing the smile that shows we’re making school a little more fun—and a child feel a little more comfortable in a learning environment. It’s learning that test scores have risen and knowing we played a role. There are lots of rewards, both big and small, for those who get involved.

Welcome to the Three for Me program!

The Poplin PTA encourages everyone to partner with our school in your child’s education. One way to do that is through volunteering. The PTA has made that very easy for everyone with our new volunteer program, Three for Me.

 Three for Me is a promise. A promise from parents or caregivers to our children and their school that you are making a pledge to volunteer THREE hours of your time throughout the school year. That’s ONLY three hours for the ENTIRE school year! Now, of course, if you have the ability to volunteer more then three hours, we welcome you. But this program is asking ALL parents and caregivers to get involved by giving ONLY THREE hours.

Did you know that parents have a significant effect on their children's education? It's true. Good education isn't just about teachers and schools- what parents do really counts. All research indicates that children who have families actively involved in their school will get higher grades, are more likely to graduate and go on to college and will earn more money once they begin their career. Aren't those wonderful ideals for our children? 

Please take some time to look over the Three for Me volunteer opportunities list.Then fill out the Volunteer Promise Form and return it to school with your eldest elementary student. Make this simple promise to your child, their teacher and your school, and show how much you care. This program can only be successful when caring parents and community members are involved. Whether you are able to volunteer Three Hours for the year or Three Hours each day, your help is greatly appreciated and does NOT go unnoticed. Thank you for your time!
